The late Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah’s grieving wife, Apostle Lilian Kumah, bravely entered the gloomy halls of the Accra Central Police Headquarters on Friday, March 8, 2024, to file a heartbreaking complaint against Captain Smart, a radio and TV presenter with Media General, for slanderously implying that her adored husband had poisoned himself dead.
In light of the fact that her husband is still in mourning, Lilian Kumah expressed grave worry about the harm these baseless charges are doing to the family’s standing and well-being
Her voice shaking with agony and tears welling up in her eyes, she pleaded with the Ghana Police Service to look into the journalist’s allegations and interrogate him about the foundation of his assertions in order to put a stop to this unbelievable injustice and disinformation.
Remember that after the terrible death of John Kumah, the MP for Ejisu Constituency and Deputy Finance Minister, video clips from Captain Smart that had previously surfaced went viral on social media, accusing the late MP of being purposefully poisoned.
In this footage from weeks ago, Captain Smart implied that some politicians and businessmen planned the poisoning as a sort of retaliation against the previous Finance Minister.
Furthermore, he brought up purported efforts to assassinate several well-known individuals, such as Hon. Andy Appiah Kubi, MP for Asante-Akim North Constituency; Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, former majority leader and MP for Suame; and Chairman Wontumi, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP.
The Ejisu community was thrown into a state of sadness when word of John Kumah’s demise arrived in the early hours of Thursday, March 7, 2024.
Leaders of the NPP and opposition parties, Vice President Bawumia, President Akufo-Addo, and government officials have all paid their respects to the late MP and Deputy Minister.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic news of the sudden death of the Deputy Minister for Finance and Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Hon. John Ampontuah Kumah,” stated President Akufo-Addo in a letter. “We are all left bereft of a bright, energetic light in our midst from his untimely passing.”
Speaking via his spokesperson, Bismarck Twumasi, John Kumah, 45 years old, died in an ambulance en route to Accra while receiving medical attention in Germany.
There will be a huge vacuum left behind by Kumah’s passing; however, he is survived by his wife and six children. May peace be upon his soul.
