The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that outstanding promotion arrears for staff promoted in 2025 are expected to be paid on Monday, November 16, 2026.
In a letter dated October 27, 2026, and signed by Prof. Smile Dzisi, Deputy Director-General (Management Services), on behalf of the Director-General, GES management indicated that efforts are underway in collaboration with the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to settle the outstanding arrears.
According to the letter, the Controller and Accountant-General’s payment system will reopen on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, to allow the necessary inputs to be processed.
Management also assured affected staff that discrepancies identified in the promotion arrears payments made on October 16, 2026, would be rectified accordingly.
GES management expressed regret over the delay and inconvenience caused and urged Regional Directors to communicate the information to all affected staff. Affected teachers and other GES staff are therefore expected to receive their outstanding 2025 promotion arrears by the announced date, subject to the completion of the necessary payment processes.
