The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed Senior High Schools operating under the double-track system to wait before transitioning back to single-track.
In a letter dated 11 September 2026, signed by the Director-General, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, GES Management informed all Regional Directors of Education and Heads of Double-Track Schools that, following an initial needs assessment, schools are expected to wait until the identified needs are met to ensure a smooth transition.
The letter further directed that Heads of double-track schools that wish to transition to single-track must seek formal clearance and approval from GES Management before effecting any transition.
Regional Directors of Education have also been directed to ensure full compliance across all schools within their respective jurisdictions.
