The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the dates for the 2027 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), giving candidates, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders ample time to prepare for the national examination.
According to the approved 2026/2027 Academic Calendar for Basic Schools, the 2027 BECE is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, May 5, 2027, and end on Wednesday, May 12, 2027.
The early release of the examination dates is expected to benefit all stakeholders in the education sector. School heads and teachers can now organize revision classes, internal assessments, mock examinations, and other academic activities in line with the official timetable. Likewise, parents and guardians will have sufficient time to support their children academically, emotionally, and financially as they prepare for one of the most important examinations at the basic education level.
Candidates are also encouraged to take advantage of the early announcement by developing effective study plans, attending classes regularly, and seeking assistance from their teachers whenever they encounter academic challenges.
The BECE serves as a crucial assessment for final-year Junior High School (JHS) students and determines their placement into Senior High Schools (SHSs) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions through the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
GES has therefore urged all stakeholders to take note of the announced dates and make the necessary preparations to ensure a successful and smooth 2027 BECE for every candidate across the country.
