The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced further details regarding the December 2025 Teachers’ Promotion Examinations, following an earlier circular issued to prospective candidates nationwide. All eligible teachers preparing for the examinations are urged to carefully take note of the dates, ranks involved, examination requirements, and designated centres to avoid any inconvenience.
Examination Schedule
The 2025 GES Teachers’ Promotion Examinations will be conducted over two days, as outlined below:
Monday, 29th December 2025
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Ranks:
- Assistant Director II (AD II)
- Principal Superintendent (PS)
Tuesday, 30th December 2025
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Ranks:
- Assistant Director I (AD I)
- Deputy Director (DD)
Candidates are advised to arrive at their examination centres at least one hour before the start time to allow for verification and other pre-examination procedures.
Candidate Notification and Verification
GES has put in place multiple channels to ensure that candidates receive accurate information ahead of the examinations:
- SMS Alerts: Candidates will receive text messages containing their Staff ID, Index Number, and assigned Examination Centre.
- Verification Lists: The full list of candidates and index numbers is available for verification at:
- GES Headquarters
- Regional Education Offices
- Municipal, Metro, and District Education Offices
- All designated examination centres
Candidates are strongly encouraged to verify their details early and report any discrepancies promptly.
Examination Day Requirements
On the day of the examination, candidates must ensure the following:
- Presentation of a valid National Identification Card (Ghana Card).
- Quotation of Staff ID and Index Number on all examination scripts.
- Compliance with all examination rules and regulations as issued by GES.
Failure to meet these requirements may result in disqualification.

The promotion examinations will assess candidates’ professional knowledge and administrative competence. Questions will cover, but are not limited to, the following areas:
- Knowledge of the Ghana Education Service
- Ministry of Education and its agencies
- School and classroom management
- Theories of teaching and learning

- Office practices
- Educational policies
- Contemporary national and international issues
- Educational administration and management

Arrangements for Candidates with Special Needs
GES has made special arrangements for candidates with special needs, particularly the visually challenged. The designated centres include:
- Wesley College of Education – Kumasi
- Presbyterian College of Education – Akropong
- Nusrat Jahan Ahmadiyya College of Education – Wa
Candidates requiring special assistance are advised to make prior contact and complete all necessary arrangements well ahead of the examination date.

2025 GES Examination Centres Nationwide
The December 2025 promotion examinations will be conducted across all regions of Ghana, including centres in Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono, Bono East, Central, Eastern, Greater Accra, Northern/Savannah, Upper East, Upper West, North East, Oti, Volta, Western, and Western North Regions. Selected Colleges of Education, Senior High Schools, Universities, and Study Centres have been designated to accommodate candidates.
