Mr. Kurt E. S. Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has announced that each of the 18 clubs participating in the 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season will receive GH₵1 million.
This announcement was made at the official launch of the season, held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra. The event brought together a distinguished gathering of leaders and stakeholders from across government, corporate Ghana, and the footballing community.
The occasion was graced by several prominent personalities, including the Vice-President of the GFA, Mark Addo; members of the Executive Council; Ghana’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah; the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams; and the Majority Leader of Parliament, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, among others.
During the launch, the GFA officially announced a transformative partnership with Adesa Productions Limited (APL) for the full-scale production, management, and broadcast of the Premier League, effective from the 2025/2026 season.
The GFA President also revealed plans to introduce a merit-based prize structure, whereby every club will be financially rewarded based on its final league position.
“Whether a club finishes first or last, their contribution, performance, and participation will now yield tangible benefits. Every match will matter. Every point will count. This is a system rooted in fairness, competitiveness, and equity,” he emphasized.
Mr. Okraku extended his appreciation on behalf of the GFA to the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, whose vision for sports development continues to inspire. He also expressed gratitude to the Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah; the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams; and the GFA’s dedicated partners at Adesa Productions Limited for their belief in the vision and their commitment to making it a reality.
