Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, also known as Nana Agradaa, a former traditional priestess who later became an evangelist, has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by the Circuit Court in Accra.
According to reports, the 15-year sentence follows her conviction for charlatanic advertisement and obtaining money by false pretenses.
Nana Agradaa was found guilty of deceiving victims during a televised broadcast in 2022, where she falsely claimed to possess spiritual powers capable of doubling money for people.
These actions persuaded many individuals to part with large sums of money, hoping for miraculous financial returns that never materialized.
The court’s decision in Nana Agradaa’s case has been seen as a major victory in the fight against fraudulent spiritual schemes and dishonest religious practices within the country.
It is important to note that, prior to sentencing, the court ordered a mandatory pregnancy test, which confirmed that she was not pregnant, allowing the sentencing to proceed without any delay.
The verdict has received widespread public reaction, with many praising the ruling as a strong stand for justice and a clear warning to those involved in similar fraudulent activities.
