Ghana’s art scene is receiving a major boost with a high impact collaboration between the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and Shatta Wale’s Shaxi platform. YEA CEO Malik Basintale recently stepped forward to serve pro bono as a Shaxi brand ambassador on condition that 200 to 300 emerging musicians benefit from the initiative. His bold move reflects a fresh focus on amplifying Ghana’s creative talent on the global stage.
According to Shatta on his post at social media, Shaxi was created and launched in December 2021 to tackle youth unemployment by offering ride hailing services that empower flexible and daily income work through a GHS 20 per day driver fee. The platform’s job centric philosophy aligns naturally with YEA’s mission to reduce youth joblessness even extending beyond transportation into the creative arts.
During a strategic meeting at YEA headquarters in Accra, Basintale expressed his intent to integrate Shaxi into music mentorship programs leveraging the platform’s reach to identify and launch promising artistes. He met with Shatta Wale and the shaxi team to lay out plans for this music focused partnership, with the shared goal of creating structured opportunities and global exposure for Ghanaian talent.
According to the report, the initiative emphasizes a unified vision using digital innovation to uplift the youth whether in transport or the arts. With Basintale ready to don the Shaxi ambassador cap without compensation, the partnership stands as a testament to Ghana’s growing belief in nurturing its creative industry from the grassroots up.
