Kumawu Presby Schools Wins Zonal Quiz

In a remarkable display of academic excellence, Kumawu Presby Primary and JHS emerged victorious at the Sekyere Presbytery Zonal Quiz held on 30th May 2025, at Effiduase. The competition which was organized under the auspices of the Sekyere Presbytery Education showcased the intellectual prowess of learners from various Presbyterian schools within the Effiduase zone.

The contest began with the Primary division featuring four schools. Kumawu Presby Primary clinched the top spot with an impressive 41 points. They were followed by Effiduase West Presby Primary with 38 points, Effiduase Central Presby Primary with 29 points, and Juaben Presby Primary with 19 points. Subjects covered in the quiz included English Language, Mathematics, Science, Religious and Moral Education (R.M.E), and Presbyterian issues.

The Junior High School division followed with Kumawu Presby JHS dominating the competition. They scored 47 points, outpacing Effiduase Presby JHS with 41 points and Juaben Presby JHS, who scored 19 points. This convincing victory not only placed Kumawu Presby JHS in first position but also qualified them for the upcoming Presbytery contest scheduled for June at Asante Mampong.  The first spot position brought immense joy to Mr. Boakye Amponsah, affectionately known as “OgaLee,” as the Kumawu Education Committee Chairperson. His delight exemplified the commitment and hard work he has been investing into the Kumawu Education Department and the District at large. Mr. Boakye pledged that the success at Effiduase would not be the end, but a stepping stone toward a stronger and well-prepared showing at the Presbytery level. He assured all stakeholders of even more thorough preparation as the ultimate contest in Asante Mampong approaches.

The event served as a platform to promote holistic Presbyterian education across the Sekyere Presbytery and Ghana at large. It was graced by Rev. Seth Duodu Abedi, the Presbytery Education Director, and several dedicated teachers who trained and supported the contestants. The gathering also drew chairpersons from various educational committees, who came together in a show of unity and support for Presbyterian academic excellence.

The triumph of Kumawu Presby Primary and JHS is an evidence to the dedication of educators, the commitment of students, and the strength of the Presbyterian educational mission.
