His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, on Sunday, 25th May 2025, presided over the fourth Akwasidae Festival of the year at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The occasion brought together a distinguished gathering of traditional rulers, dignitaries, royals, academics, and professionals who assembled to pay homage to the Asantehene and reaffirm their loyalty to the Golden Stool.
Among the notable guests were Nana Akwasi Awobaah II, Anyinasuhene; officials from the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council led by the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi; representatives from the KNUST Business School and Sunderland University; and Mr. Andy Akoto, Managing Partner of KPMG.
Also in attendance were members of the Onion Dealers Association and renowned Ghanaian artist Ms. Sharon Dede Padi, who joined others in honouring the cultural significance of the event.
The Akwasidae Festival, held every six weeks, is a central feature of Asante tradition. It serves as an important platform for community engagement, cultural reflection, and the affirmation of allegiance to the Asante Kingdom. The event also offers the Asantehene an opportunity to receive guests, interact with subjects, and promote unity and heritage.
