Hon. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson has inaugurated a new Board of Directors for the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
The inauguration ceremony took place on Friday, May 16, 2025, in Accra.
The chairman of the newly appointed COCOBOD Board of Directors is Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.

Dr. Ato Forson acknowledged that in recent years, COCOBOD has faced daunting challenges. He emphasized his belief in the capabilities of the newly appointed board members and urged them to explore strategic measures to overcome these challenges.
During the event, the Finance Minister revealed that the government, as part of measures to revitalize the sector, will acquire about 200 hectares of land for plantation farms. This initiative aims to complement the tireless efforts of smallholder farmers and restore cocoa production to the one million metric tonne mark, the Minister stressed.

Dr. Ato Forson assured the new board and stakeholders across the cocoa value chain of the Ministry of Finance’s full support as they work to reposition COCOBOD as a cornerstone of Ghana’s economic recovery and growth agenda.
“The road ahead will be tough — but together, we will rebuild and reclaim cocoa’s rightful place as the jewel of our economy,” Ato Forson concluded.
