Chairman Wontumi Declares Bid for NPP National Chairmanship

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has formally announced his intention to contest for the position of National Chairman of Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The Ashanti Regional Chairman made the declaration during a media appearance on Wontumi TV, citing spiritual conviction and a calling to serve the party at the national level.

“I have spoken to God, and the favour I have found before Him and before men will be a pivotal factor in my victory as National Chairman,” he said.

Wontumi stated that his decision is rooted in service to the party and the nation, rather than personal ambition. He expressed confidence that under his leadership, the NPP would be poised to recapture power in the 2028 general elections.

Although he has yet to officially launch a campaign, he indicated that the formal process would begin in due time. His announcement comes at a time when the party is reassessing its leadership and strategy following its defeat in the last general elections.

The Ashanti Regional Chairmen Caucus recently cautioned against actions by aspirants that could foster internal disunity.

Wontumi’s entry into the national race introduces a high-profile figure into the evolving political landscape of the NPP as it prepares for its next national congress.
