Chelsea Stun Champions Liverpool at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea reignited their Champions League ambitions with a commanding 3-1 victory over newly crowned Premier League champions Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

The Blues wasted no time asserting dominance with Enzo Fernández opening the scoring in the third minute. The goal came from a brilliant team move initiated by Romeo Lavia involved Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto, before Fernández calmly slotted the ball past Alisson.

Chelsea doubled their lead in the 56th minute when Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah inadvertently turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Palmer.

Virgil van Dijk pulled one back for Liverpool with an 85th minute header but Chelsea sealed the victory in stoppage time. Quansah fouled Moisés Caicedo in the box and Palmer confidently converted the penalty as he recorded his first goal in 18 matches.

Chelsea’s midfield trio of Lavia, Caicedo, and Fernández dominated the game with Marc Cucurella effectively containing Mohamed Salah. Goalkeeper Robert Sánchez remained solid between the sticks throughout the match.  The win pushes Chelsea to fourth place in the Premier League as they level points with Newcastle and just one behind Manchester City whiles the battle for Champions League spots intensifies with three games left.
