‘No-Fees-Stress’: Government Opens Portal for First-Year Tertiary Students to Access Financial Aid

The Government of Ghana has officially launched an online portal to provide financial assistance to first-year students of public tertiary institutions, under a new policy known as “No-Fees-Stress.”

The platform — nofeesstress.sltf.gov.gh — is managed by the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) and is designed to help students cover tuition and other academic costs without delay or stress.

The move is part of the government’s effort to remove financial barriers to higher education and improve access for students from less privileged backgrounds.

According to the SLTF, first-year students enrolled in any public university, college of education, or technical university can apply for the support by filling out the online form and uploading the required documents.

Officials say the process has been made simple and transparent, with the aim of ensuring prompt disbursement of funds to successful applicants before fees become due.

The Education Ministry has encouraged all qualified students to take advantage of the portal, adding that the support is a direct response to growing calls for improved affordability in higher education.
