Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President of Ghana, has visited Herbert, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) student who was stabbed in Kumasi on Tuesday, April 28, 2025.
Reports suggest that Herbert is a member of Unity Hall at KNUST and had joined a group of students singing jama and cheer songs for an individual during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) “Thank You Tour” held in the Bantama Constituency on Tuesday.
Herbert was stabbed after the event following a reported misunderstanding over GH₵1,000 between the Unity Hall group and another group, who are yet to be identified.
He was quickly rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and is currently responding to treatment.
Dr. Bawumia, together with some leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), visited him to express their sympathies and best wishes to the injured student.

According to reports, Dr. Bawumia donated GH₵50,000 to support Herbert’s medical expenses.
Herbert’s grandmother received the donation on his behalf. She thanked Dr. Bawumia for the kind gesture and expressed gratitude to the entire delegation for their visit.
