Honourable Maxwell Doffour, assembly Member for the Kumawu-Woraso Electoral Area organized a mini rally today 3rd December,2024 in honor of Honourable Ernest Yaw Anim, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu Constituency. The event aimed to mobilize support for the MP and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the December 7 general elections.
The day began with a communal cleaning exercise where residents turned out in large numbers to clean the area. After the cleanup participants returned home to prepare for the rally and later reassembled at the durbar grounds dressed in vibrant NPP attire eagerly anticipating the arrival of party officials and dignitaries. A public address system entertained attendees with popular music and NPP campaign songs creating an energetic atmosphere. The event saw the presence of key party figures starting from the District Chief Executive (DCE) in the person of Honourable Samuel Addai Agyekum, the constituency chairman, secretary, and other officials. Even though MP Ernest Yaw Anim could not attend due to prior commitments in Kumasi.
Honourable Samuel Addai Agyekum expressed gratitude to the residents of Woraso for their support and highlighted the achievements of the NPP government under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and MP Ernest Yaw Anim. He outlined various developmental projects initiated under the NPP government, such as the construction of the Kumawu-Effiduase road, the development of the Woraso market, a new school block for relocating Woraso D/A JHS, and feeder roads linking Woraso, Aninangya, and Abotanso. He also emphasized the success of the Free SHS policy which has provided equal opportunities for children from diverse backgrounds including securing boarding facilities for students with day placements in the 2024 BECE.
The DCE further outlined plans to establish a Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Kumawu by August 2025, as well as a STEM focused Girls’ Senior High School to address the constituency’s educational gaps. He urged the electorate to vote massively for MP Ernest Yaw Anim and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming general elections. Speaking on the constituency’s strong performance in the recent special voting exercise, the district recorded 90.3% turn out and he encouraged sustained momentum for victory. He also emphasized the importance of educating voters to minimize rejected ballots which have cost the party in previous elections pointing out to 2008, 2012, and 2020 respectively which led to the party’s defeat.
