Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been re-elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Klottey Korle constituency in the recently concluded parliamentary elections.
The daughter of Ghana’s late former President, Jerry John Rawlings, secured a decisive victory with 39,700 votes, defeating her closest contender, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 23,558 votes.
This marks yet another term for Dr. Rawlings, who has represented the constituency since 2016. Her campaign focused on addressing critical issues such as infrastructure development, youth employment, and healthcare, resonating strongly with voters in the urban constituency.
In her victory speech, Dr. Rawlings expressed deep appreciation to her constituents.
“I am humbled by the trust of the people of Klottey Korle,” she said:
“I remain dedicated to addressing our challenges and advancing the development of our community.”
The Klottey Korle seat, known for its competitiveness, remains a pivotal battleground in Ghana’s political arena, with the NDC and NPP vying fiercely for dominance in the region.
