Popular Kumawood actor, Yaw Dabo, is calling out the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES) for failing to help Suzzy Pinamang, a student of Bantama Adventist Senior High School who lost her sight after being accidentally shot in the eye by a fellow student.
The incident happened in March 2025 when a male student brought his father’s gun to school and was showing it off to friends. The gun accidentally went off, hitting Suzzy in the face. Despite receiving medical care, the injury has now caused her to lose her eyesight.
Yaw Dabo visited Suzzy and her family and shared a video online expressing deep disappointment in how the case has been handled.
“It hurts that the Minister of Education and GES have not acted. If this happened outside Ghana, they would have flown her out immediately for treatment. But here, nothing is being done while the girl suffers,”
– Yaw Dabo
He urged the Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, to step in and help send Suzzy abroad for treatment that could possibly restore her vision.
The actor also criticized the general state of education in Ghana, saying students are not receiving proper support and even those who graduate struggle to find good jobs.
Dabo appealed to well-known Ghanaians like Shatta Wale, Nana Aba Anamoah, Nana Ama McBrown, and Delay to support the girl and raise funds for her medical care.
