University of Ghana Vice-Chancellor Commissions Newly Built Smart Classrooms

Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana (UG), has officially commissioned two newly-built smart classrooms at the Korle-Bu Campus. This event took place on Wednesday, 14th August 2024.

The commissioning ceremony was graced by various dignitaries, including the Provost of the College of Health Sciences (CHS), Directors, Deans, the Chief Information Technology Officer, Heads of Department, and students from the university.

In her address, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo emphasized the strategic role these smart classrooms will play in the education of students at the Medical School and the School of Biomedical and Allied Health Sciences. She highlighted the university’s commitment to equipping both faculty and students with the modern technological tools to foster an innovative and interactive learning experience.

Professor Amfo further elaborated on the significance of this development, noting that the establishment of these smart classrooms aligns with the University of Ghana’s vision to become a world-class research-intensive institution. She indicated that the two classrooms are furnished with modern equipment, including high-tech projectors, projector screens, PA systems, among others.

She expressed her gratitude to the World Bank African Centres of Excellence at UG for their support in bringing this project to fruition. The collaboration with the World Bank is part of a continuous effort to enhance the student experience at UG.

The Vice-Chancellor also pointed out that the implementation of smart classrooms is a response to the evolving needs of the global educational landscape. With the integration of advanced technology, these classrooms are expected to facilitate a more engaging and effective learning process.

In conclusion, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo expressed her confidence that the newly commissioned smart classrooms would significantly enhance the teaching and learning at the Korle-Bu Campus.
