The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has officially inaugurated a newly constructed gatehouse and shuttle terminal to enhance accessibility and security on campus.

The gatehouse, which serves as a vital entry point, is equipped with offices, a kitchenette, and a washroom to facilitate the operations of security personnel and administrative staff. In addition to a designated entrance for vehicles, the facility features two pedestrian access routes, including one specifically designed for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), ensuring inclusivity for all members of the university community.

The construction of the gatehouse was jointly funded by the Central Administration and the Students’ Representative Council (SRC). The initiative aligns with the university’s commitment to creating a safe and accessible environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The inauguration was done by Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong, the Vice Chancellor of University of Cape Coast.

The newly inaugurated shuttle terminal is expected to streamline transportation within the university. It will serve as a designated point for boarding and alighting, ensuring an organized system for students and other users. This development aims to reduce congestion at existing pick-up and drop-off points, and ultimately enhancing the commuting experience within the university community.

According to reports, both facilities will significantly improve mobility and accessibility on campus. The gatehouse will offer convenience to students and other stakeholders as they go about their academic and daily activities. Similarly, the shuttle terminal is anticipated to facilitate efficient movement, particularly for students who rely on campus transportation services.
