The United States Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Evelyn Palmer, has officially ended her three-year diplomatic tour in the country. The U.S. Embassy in Accra announced her departure on May 28, 2025, marking the conclusion of her distinguished 39-year career in the U.S. Foreign Service.
In a farewell message shared by the embassy, Ambassador Palmer was praised for her outstanding service and contributions to strengthening U.S. – Ghana relations.
“After a three-year tour in Ghana, she concluded her assignment and departed post,” the U.S. Embassy posted on social media. “We thank her for her outstanding service in her 39-year career with the U.S. Foreign Service and wish her all the best as she begins her next chapter.”
Deputy Chief of Mission Rolf Olson has now assumed the role of Chargé d’Affaires until a new ambassador is appointed.
