The sample remains of the fallen Ghanaian heroes in the Obuasi-Adansi Akrofuom has been sent to South African for forensic analysis and identification.
The remains were conveyed by Dzata private Jet own by Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, the brother of President John Mahama.
According to report, among those involved in the transport were forensic experts and a government delegation, led by the Criminal Investigations Department’s Head of Forensic Analysis. It is believed that the operation was conducted with urgency, as the samples were rushed from Kotoka International Airport to expedite DNA-based identification.
The tragedy stems from a military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom in the enclaves of Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of eight individuals, including:
Dr. Omane Boamah – former Defence Minister

Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak noted that although the deceased were already at the 37 Military Hospital, “further examination and testing is necessary,” prompting the external forensic assessment. Results are expected within 6 to 12 hours, underscoring the government’s commitment to rapid clarity.
Simultaneously, a three-day national mourning was observed beginning Thursday, August 7, with a wreath-laying ceremony at Jubilee House attended by President John Mahama, Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, and other officials.
