Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of Ghana, emphasized that technology, education, and health are crucial to Africa’s transformation.

The President, speaking at the 5th Anniversary of the Council on Foreign Relations Ghana, themed “The Limits of the Current Development Co-operation Framework for Africa’s Transformation,” stressed on the need for investment in these sectors to achieve sustainable and inclusive development.

President Akufo-Addo emphasized that the digital revolution offers significant opportunities to accelerate development, enhance service delivery, and boost economic competitiveness in Africa. He acknowledged the challenges that come with these opportunities, emphasizing the need for equitable access to technology.

“To fully harness technology’s potential, we must invest in digital infrastructure, expand broadband connectivity, improve access to ICT, and develop digital skills,” Akufo-Addo said. He also highlighted the need to bridge the digital divide, ensuring all Africans can participate in the digital economy.

In education, the President reaffirmed his commitment to quality education for all, citing the success of the Free Senior High School policy. He stressed the importance of technical and vocational education (TVET) in bridging skills gaps and promoting employability.

“Quality education is a fundamental right and a driver of development,” President declared, calling for continued investment in educational infrastructure to ensure equal access for all children.

Under health, President Akufo-Addo noted that a healthy population is essential for economic growth. He mentioned his administration’s Agenda 111 initiative to build 111 district hospitals, as well as the establishment of the National Vaccine Institute to enhance self-reliance in vaccine production. He stressed the need to invest in health infrastructure, train healthcare professionals, and prioritize primary care and preventive services.

President Akufo-Addo has urged continued investment in technology, education, and health as vital pillars for Africa’s transformation, expressing confidence that these efforts will foster sustainable and inclusive development across the African continent.
