Hon. Baba Jamal Mohamed Ahmed has been sworn in as the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso East Constituency following his victory in the recent by-election.
The swearing-in ceremony took place in Ghana’s Parliament on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, where the oath of office was administered by the Speaker of Parliament, the Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.

Prior to contesting the seat, he resigned from his position as Ghana’s ambassador to Nigeria to participate in the parliamentary primary on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Rt. Hon. Bagbin, as part of administering the oath, reminded the new MP of his responsibility to serve the people of the constituency and the country.
It is important to note that Hon. Baba Jamal has previously served as Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency from 2009 to 2013.
