Shatta Wale: I’d Rather Feed Streets Than Sue

Ghanaian dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly known as Shatta Wale, has made it clear he has no interest in wasting money on lawsuits against people in the music industry. Instead, he says he would rather use that money to support the streets.

“I won’t go and waste money to get a lawyer to fight these industry ‘maaafakas’ or even sue them. Like ago take that money feed street,” he boldly stated, reaffirming his loyalty to the grassroots community that made him a star. Known as the “King of the Street,” Shatta Wale has always positioned himself as a voice of the people. His decision reflects his ongoing commitment to social responsibility, particularly in uplifting underprivileged communities in Ghana.

This isn’t the first time Shatta Wale has faced industry pressure or legal challenges. In 2021, he was arrested and remanded in police custody for a staged shooting issue, a case that drew massive public and media attention. But even that hasn’t changed his style, people first approach.  Rather than chase courtroom victories or PR driven battles, Shatta Wale says he will continue to put his resources into where his heart belongs and that is the streets.
