The Sekyere Kumawu Education Directorate, under the leadership of Mr. Kwame Oduro, successfully hosted its second annual Nine Lessons and Carols on Thursday, 11th December 2025, at the Bodomase Methodist Church as part of the annual circuit based schedule.
The spiritually uplifting ceremony brought together departmental heads of the Directorate, education officers, and respected clergy from Bodomase and Kumawu respectively, creating an atmosphere of unity, reflection, and reverence.
In attendance were executives of the Bodomase Local Council of Churches and the Kumawu Local Council of Churches, as well as the Bodomase PTA executives, whose presence and support could not be underestimated, which highlighted the strong collaboration between church, school, and community.
Although the Member of Parliament, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Akwasi Amankwah, popularly known as “TOM C”, were unable to attend due to other official schedules, they were ably represented by Hon. Richard Gyamfi, the Presiding Member for Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly.
Proceedings commenced promptly at 9:45am, expertly steered by the Masters of Ceremony, Mr. Isaacs Owusu, Headteacher of Bodomase Presby JHS, and Mr. Emmanuel Nyadedzi, the District Sports Coordinator.
A powerful praises and worship session, spearheaded by Oga Boakye, a tutor at Woraso Presby JHS, together with the Headteacher of Bodomase R/C Primary and other team members, led the congregation into a spirit-filled moment of worship and adoration that energized the entire auditorium.
The programme featured the traditional Nine Lessons, beautifully rendered by learners from various schools in Bodomase circuit, spanning from basic schools to second cycle institutions.
The Reverend Minister for the Bodomase Methodist Church, who was the Guest Speaker, delivered a brief but impactful homily on the true meaning of Christmas, emphasizing its significance in Christendom and addressing misconceptions that it originated as an ancient gods’ festival.
Speaking on behalf of the Education Director, Mr. Ebenezer Ofei emphasized the importance of continuously nurturing learners with godly values, noting that such foundations guide them to grow in wisdom and upright character. He further urged learners to remain obedient to tutors and parents, especially during the festive season.
The event climaxed with uplifting choral renditions by the officers of the education directorate led by the ever-energetic retired educationist, Mr. Jacob Nti Danso, whose youthful spirit and passion crowned the celebration.
Overall, the programme stood as a remarkable blend of faith, education, and community fellowship within the Sekyere Kumawu Municipality.
