The Sekyere Kumawu District Education Directorate has donated GH₵19,000 to Mr. Daniel Adjekum, the Headteacher of Akrofoso D/A Junior High School (JHS), to support him in the aftermath of a devastating fire that destroyed his home.
The donation was presented to Mr. Adjekum at Effiduase on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
According to reports from GH Educate, Mr. Adjekum was left traumatized after a fire outbreak completely consumed his residence, leaving him unable to salvage any of his belongings.
Eyewitness accounts and pictures as evidence gathered by GH Educate confirmed that the fire burned Mr. Adjekum’s house to ashes. The extent of the damage deeply moved Mr. Kwame Oduro-Owusu, the District Director of Education for Sekyere Kumawu, and the entire Education Directorate.

In response to the unfortunate incident, Mr. Oduro-Owusu, through his management team, initiated an appeal for financial support from the staff within the Directorate. The appeal was met with overwhelming generosity, as headteachers, teachers, and office staff alike swiftly contributed towards the cause. Their collective efforts resulted in a substantial sum of GH₵19,000 being raised.
GH Educate has gathered exclusive information indicating that not all expected contributions have been received. The Directorate has assured that any additional funds collected will also be handed over to Mr. Adjekum as part of their ongoing commitment to easing his burden and helping him recover from tragic incident.
Upon receiving the donation, Mr. Adjekum expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Oduro-Owusu and all staff members who contributed to the fundraising effort. He conveyed his heartfelt appreciation through the District Director, acknowledging the immense support shown to him in his time of need.
This generous donation is expected to provide some relief to Mr. Adjekum as he begins to rebuild his life.
