Richie Mensah of Lynx Entertainment Defends Artist Label Exit

LYNX ENTERTAIMENT MANAGER

Richie Mensah, CEO of Lynx Entertainment, has publicly supported artists choosing to depart from record labels insisting it would be “very selfish” to block their exit. In a candid interview on Joy Prime, he emphasized that the purpose of label artist agreements is to nurture talent until they can “handle things on their own,” then gracefully label managers step aside.

Mensah pushed back on notions like the so‑called “Lynx curse,” assuring fans that the struggles artists face post-departure are rooted not in mystical factors but in the loss of a structured team. He explained that Lynx’s success owes much to its roughly 60‑strong crew overseeing PR, creatives, visuals, and brand management. An artist leaving loses that infrastructure and makes independent success a tall order, but not impossible.

Highlighting his perspective on success, Mensah noted that financial performance should be judged fairly as solo project yielding a smaller gross could still be more profitable in terms of margin than a label-backed mega-hit.

Richie has seen both sides of the equation as Lynx alumni include stars like KiDi, Kuami Eugene, MzVee, and others have all benefited from the label’s launchpad. Several have gone independent and faced challenges. Kuami Eugene remains hopeful that he’ll “break the jinx,” applying lessons from Richie’s mentorship.

Mensah’s stance seeks to reshape public expectations rather than faulting artists for reduced output as he acknowledgeed the heavy lift behind their early success and respect their journey toward independence.
