Award-winning Ghanaian gospel artist Selina Boateng has publicly confirmed that her six-year marriage to Isaac Berchie has ended in divorce but she feels neither ashamed nor remorseful.
According to Okay FM’s drive-time show with Nana Romeo (aired August 14, 2025), Selina acknowledged, with a firm “yes,” that the union had officially ended. Despite the dissolution of her marriage, she made it clear that she experiences no stigma as a divorced individual and holds no regrets.
Selina tied the knot with Isaac Berchie on December 7, 2019, in a vibrant ceremony at the Church of Pentecost in Maakro Central, Kumasi. The wedding, alongside its traditional rites, was celebrated by family, friends, and fellow gospel musicians. The couple welcomed their first child, baby boy, in March 2022.
She admitted that with hindsight, she would have made different choices
“Marriage has opened my eyes in so many ways. If I had the chance to go back and make changes or amend certain decisions, I honestly would because until you’re inside the walls of marriage, you’ll never truly understand what it is.”
Yet she stands firm in believing the split was right for her and views no shame in her current status. Selina also used the platform to caution young people not to rush into marriage under external pressures. Instead, take time to truly know your partner and avoid allowing friends, family, or societal expectations to influence such life-long choices.
