The Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, has been officially relieved of his duties. Meanwhile the government is yet to name his replacement which is expected to happen within the coming week.
This decision, which takes immediate effect, was communicated during a meeting with the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandor.
According to sources, the minister acknowledged Professor Addai-Mensah’s dedication and transformative leadership in positioning KATH as a leading modern healthcare facility.
Appointed in 2022, Prof Addai-Mensah is credited with initiating major reforms, including the widely praised ‘Heal Komfo Anokye Project’ (HeKAP) spearheaded by the Asantehene. Under his tenure, the number of dialysis machines increased from just two to over 20, dramatically improving renal care in the Ashanti Region.
He also championed extensive infrastructure and equipment upgrades, including the development of a modern pharmaceutical block, positioning KATH for future healthcare excellence.
Despite having two years left on his contract, Prof Addai-Mensah is stepping down after overseeing one of the most impactful periods in the hospital’s recent history.
The Ministry of Health is expected to announce a new CEO for Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in the coming days.
GH Educate will drop it here when that is announced.
