The University of Media, Arts, and Communication (UniMAC) has appointed Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah as the Acting Vice-Chancellor, effective 8th February 2024. A Brief Profile of Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah

Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah, an expert in rhetoric and media studies, assumed the role of Deputy Rector at the Ghana Institute of Journalism in August 2020. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language, a Master of Philosophy in English Language from the University of Cape Coast, and completed his doctoral degree at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, with a focus on political communication of Kwame Nkrumah.

Prof. Opoku Mensah is an experienced academic who has taught and supervised many students. His research focuses on how communication works in Ghana’s democracy, especially looking at presidential speeches and their impact on nationhood. He is currently studying how the media and political communication function in Ghana’s fourth Republic.

Prof. Opoku Mensah has attended many conferences worldwide and reviews articles for various journals. He also helps assess academic programs for the National Accreditation Board and examines students for some universities in Ghana. He frequently visits Uppsala University, Sweden, and has published many articles in local and international journals.
