H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the President of Ghana, has officially sworn in Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu as the Government Statistician, charging him to lead efforts to place credible data and evidence at the heart of Ghana’s national transformation agenda.
The brief ceremony was held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Jubilee House in Accra.
The event was attended by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson (MP), the Minister for Finance; the Interior Minister, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh; the Health Minister; the Defence Minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George; the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation; the Minister for Justice; among others.

Dr. Iddrisu in his acceptance remarks, expressed profound gratitude to President Mahama for the trust reposed in him and pledged to approach the office with the needed attention and a sense of sacred national duty.
“This is a call to lead the charge in placing data and evidence at the heart of governance and national transformation,” Dr. Iddrisu said.
He also outlined his vision for the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), including a commitment to building a modern, technology-driven, agile, and trusted institution capable of producing credible, timely, and relevant data to support Ghana’s macroeconomic stabilization programme and socio-economic development initiatives.
