President Mahama Nominates Fiscal Council Members

President John Dramani Mahama has officially nominated five experts to serve as members of the Fiscal Council, in line with section 11D of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), as amended by Act 1136 (2025).

The announcement was made by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, Spokesperson to President Mahama and Minister for Government Communications.

The Nominees include:

  • Chairperson: Dr. Emmanuel Oteng Kumah
  • Academia Representative: Prof. Patrick Opoku Asuming
  • Research Think Tank Representative: Leslie Dwight Mensah
  • Former MoF Policy Expert: J. Kweku Bedu-Addo
  • Former Bank of Ghana Policy Expert: Dr. Henry Akpenamawu Kofi Wampah

According to the statement, the Fiscal Council major mandate is to strengthen financial oversight, promote fiscal prudence, and shape sound decision-making in public financial management for Ghana.

The nominations are now pending the necessary appointment processes.
