President John Dramani Mahama has invited Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to a high-level meeting on the fight against illegal mining.
The engagement is scheduled to take place on Friday, 3rd October 2025, at 12:00 noon at the Jubilee House in Accra.
The meeting will serve as a platform for frank dialogue between government and CSOs on how best to address the environmental destruction, livelihood challenges, and governance issues caused by illegal mining.

President Mahama believes that the fight against illegal mining cannot be won by government alone. He emphasized the need for collective responsibility, where civil society, local communities, and government institutions work together to safeguard Ghana’s natural resources.

The President expressed optimism that the conversation will produce practical solutions that balance economic opportunities with environmental sustainability.
By inviting CSOs to the table, President Mahama reaffirmed his government’s commitment to inclusive governance and transparent decision-making in tackling one of the country’s most pressing challenges.

The engagement is expected to deepen trust, strengthen partnerships, and inspire a united front in the effort to protect Ghana’s environment for present and future generations.
