His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has received the Porcupine Warriors at Jubilee House and has charged the Asante Kotoko squad to carry Ghana’s name high as they embark on their CAF Confederation Cup opener against Kwara United.
“Go and fight with pride,” the President urged, reminding the team of the continent-wide spotlight awaiting them.
Kotoko, nicknamed the Porcupine Warriors are one of Ghana’s most decorated clubs.
Kwara United, champions of the 2025 Nigeria Federation Cup, are themselves determined opponents.
In their recent face-off, Kotoko narrowly edged Kwara 4–3 in a thrilling first leg, setting the stage for a tense return fixture.
President Mahama’s endorsement is more than symbolism but also a national support for Ghanaian clubs in continental competition.
As the tie unfolds, fans will watch closely to see whether President Mahama’s call for dignity and excellence shall translates into results.
