President Akufo-Addo Ministerial Reshuffle: Get all the Facts

The President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo, announced a reshuffle of ministers on Wednesday, 14th February 2024. This release came in a letter signed by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Office of the President.

The President personally conveyed his sincere appreciation directly to each of the departing Ministers and Deputy Ministers for their commitment, competence, dedication, and hard work during their time in office. Their contributions significantly aided in the fulfillment of the government’s mandate to the Ghanaian people over the past seven (7) years. The President extended well wishes to each of them for success in their future endeavors,” the statement added.

Following the reshuffle, President Nana Akufo-Addo has submitted to Parliament, seeking prior approval, the names of new individuals for appointment as Ministers and Deputy Ministers of State. This process aligns with articles 78, 79, and 256, respectively, of the 1992 Constitution.

The list of ministers relieved or sacked from their roles are as follows:

  1. Finance: Ken Ofori-Atta
  2. Interior: Hon. Ambrose Dery, MP
  3. Health: Hon. Kwaku Agyeman Manu, MP
  4. Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation: Hon. Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, MP
  5. Information: Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, MP
  6. Roads and Highways: Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Atta, MP
  7. Works and Housing: Hon. Francis Asenso Boakye, MP
  8. Gender, Children, and Social Protection: Hon. Lariba Abudu, MP
  9. Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development: Hon. Dan Botwe, MP
  10. Sanitation and Water Resources: Hon. Freda Prempeh, MP
  11. Tourism, Arts, and Culture: Ibrahim Mohammed Awal
  12. Greater Accra Region: Hon. Henry Quartey, MP
  13. Oti Region: Mr. Joseph Makubu
