President Akufo-Addo officially commissioned the new Kumawu District Hospital on Wednesday, 17th July 2024, at Kumawu.
The event was graced by several notable figures, including Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua, the Kumawumanhene; Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, the Member of Parliament for the Kumawu Constituency; Hon. Samuel Addai Agyekum, the District Chief Executive for the Kumawu District; various staff members of the Ghana Health Service; and residents from the Kumawu Constituency, among others.

The Kumawu New District Hospital is located on the Kumawu-Kwamang road.
The 120-bed state-of-the-art facility, constructed by NMS Infrastructure Limited, boasts an array of modern amenities designed to provide comprehensive primary healthcare. The hospital is equipped with maternity and pediatric wards, consulting and treatment rooms, theatres and recovery rooms, a public health department, accident and emergency facilities, a laundry, and a mortuary, among other essential services. These specialized departments are set to offer a wide range of medical services to the people in the Kumawu Constituency and beyond.
In his address, President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to completing critical projects regardless of which administration initiated them. He emphasized that the ultimate goal is to enhance the quality of life for Ghanaians through superior healthcare services. The completion of the Kumawu District Hospital is a significant milestone in this ongoing effort, and it is poised to serve not only the Kumawu Constituency but also the Sekyere Afram Plains District, ensuring that residents in these areas have access to top-notch medical care.
President Akufo-Addo highlighted that the commissioning of the Kumawu District Hospital is part of a broader agenda to complete numerous healthcare projects across the country. He mentioned that several other hospitals are set for commissioning soon, including facilities in Mpohor, Bogoso, Wassa Akropong, and other locations. This extensive healthcare infrastructure development is aimed at ensuring that Ghanaians, irrespective of their location, have access to quality healthcare services.
The President stressed that his administration’s focus on healthcare is driven by the belief that a healthy population is a key driver of national development. He extended his best wishes to the staff and management of the Kumawu District Hospital, expressing confidence in their ability to deliver excellent healthcare services to the community.
The new hospital is expected to significantly enhance healthcare delivery in the districts, offering advanced medical care and specialized services to meet the needs of the local population, President stated.
