Ghana’s Parliamentary Select Committee on Sanitation and Water Resources has paid a working visit to the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant in the Greater Accra Region.

It was indicated that the Committee’s visit formed part of its oversight responsibility to tour the facility of the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant.

Reports suggest that the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. John Bless Oti, commended the Jospong Group of Companies—one of the subsidiaries of the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant—for the good work done so far.

During their interactions, a number of issues were raised before the Committee. According to the Chairman, it was appropriate to visit the waste management facility in Accra in order to prepare an informed report for Parliament.

Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh, Vice Chairperson of the Committee, also encouraged the company to partner with the community to decentralize information on waste management and educate the public on the importance of this initiative.

The Chairman of the Committee appealed to stakeholders in the industry to foster unity and collaboration in championing effective waste management practices for the betterment of public health, particularly in Accra.

“This Committee will not rest until we see attitudinal change,” the Chairman stated.
