The Ministry of Education says more than 564,000 candidates have been successfully placed in Senior High Schools and Technical Institutes across the country.
The Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) Resolution Centre began operations on Friday, September 18, 2025, to handle placement concerns. Out of 590,390 qualified candidates, 564,000 have already secured placement.
Since opening, the Resolution Centres have received 1,358 cases, mostly related to school and residence changes.
About 1,100 of these cases involve requests for Change of School. Around 76% of parents and guardians want their wards moved from Category C and B schools to Category A schools. Another 14% want transfers from B to B, and 10% from C to C. The Ministry noted that placement depends on vacancies, competition, and raw scores, meaning high-performing students may not always get their first-choice schools.
Other requests include Change of Residence, where candidates’ addresses cannot usually be changed unless there are health or family relocation issues.
On No Placement, the Ministry explained that students not placed through the automatic system can use the self-placement option. So far, about 70% of such students have been successfully placed through this channel.
There are also demands for Change of Programme, which are under review by the Secretariat.
The Education Ministry assured parents, guardians, and students that all genuine concerns are being addressed to ensure fairness and smooth placement. Data for re-entry students is also being processed.
“We are committed to resolving all placement concerns quickly, ensuring fairness and access for every child,” the Ministry said.
