Otumfuo’s Son Elected SRC President of Ghana School of Law

Nana Opoku Ware, the son of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has been elected as the new President of the Student Representative Council (SRC) at the Ghana School of Law (GSL).

The election, which took place across four campuses of the GSL on April 29 and 30, 2025, saw Nana Opoku Ware defeat four other candidates in a closely contested race. According to official figures, he secured 668 votes, representing 35.19% of the total ballots cast. He reportedly won the majority in two out of the four campuses, cementing his leadership position within the student body.

Nana Opoku Ware, a 2024 graduate of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), will now take on the responsibility of leading the SRC at a critical time in the academic calendar. His election has sparked widespread congratulations online, with many celebrating the success of a royal figure taking up student leadership.

The Ghana School of Law remains one of the most prestigious legal training institutions in the country, and the position of SRC President is both symbolic and strategic, providing students with representation in academic and welfare matters.

His victory has drawn attention for his royal lineage also for the fact that he has shown himself strong in the elections.
