Police in Ghana’s Western Region have arrested one suspect in connection with a violent robbery at a gold-buying shop in Mpohor District. Several others remain on the run.
The incident happened on Saturday, 16 August, when a gang of armed robbers attacked the gold shop, made away with an undisclosed amount of money, and injured one person during the raid.
Police confirmed that one suspect has been picked up and is assisting with ongoing investigations. Security officials say strenuous efforts are underway to track down the remaining suspects.
The injured victim is currently receiving treatment and is said to be responding well.
Superintendent Olivia Adiku, Head of Public Affairs for the Western Regional Police Command, assured the public that the perpetrators will be arrested and brought to justice.
Police have also appealed to residents of Mpohor and surrounding communities to provide any credible information that may lead to the swift arrest of the remaining suspects.
