Offinso College of Education has successfully held its 19th Matriculation Ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic year, formally welcoming newly admitted students into the college community and the teaching profession. The ceremony, held on Thursday, 5th March 2026, symbolised the official academic induction of the fresh cohort into one of Ghana’s key teacher training institutions.
The ceremony was presided over by the Principal, Very Rev. Dr. J. Nkyi Asamoah, who delivered the matriculation address and charged the new students to approach their training with seriousness, commitment, and discipline as they begin their journey toward becoming professional teachers.

The event attracted a distinguished gathering of stakeholders including the Chair of the Governing Council and Special Guest of Honour, Rt. Rev. Sampson Obeng Adjei, representatives from the college’s affiliating institution, University of Cape Coast, members of the college management, staff, parents, guardians, invited guests, and leaders of the Students’ Representative Council.
In his matriculation address, the Principal congratulated the newly admitted students and reminded them that gaining admission into the college represents not only an academic opportunity but also a call to serve society through the noble teaching profession. He encouraged them to uphold discipline, integrity, humility, and academic excellence throughout their period of training.

Providing insight into the admission process, the Principal disclosed that 2,837 qualified applicants applied for admission into the college for the 2025/2026 academic year. However, due to the quota approved by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), only 365 students were admitted into the institution.
According to the admission statistics, the new cohort comprises 145 males and 220 females, a composition that reflects ongoing efforts within Ghana’s teacher education system to promote gender balance and expand opportunities for women within the teaching profession.

Addressing the matriculants, the Council Chair and Special Guest of Honour urged the students to cultivate strong moral values that would guide them throughout their academic and professional lives. He encouraged them to remain self-disciplined, truthful, obedient, trustworthy, and committed to their responsibilities as future educators and leaders.
The ceremony concluded with the official declaration of the fresh students as duly matriculated members of Offinso College of Education for the 2025/2026 academic year, marking the formal beginning of their academic and professional journey in teacher education and reaffirming the institution’s commitment to preparing competent teachers for Ghana’s education system.
