Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, who is the Minister for Roads and Highways, has announced that the Ofankor-Nsawam Dualisation and Upgrading Road Project is on track for completion in September. This statement came after his inspection of the ongoing works on the project on Thursday, July 11, 2024.
Hon. Asenso-Boakye emphasized that since his last visit to the site in March, significant progress has been made. He noted that the construction is proceeding as planned, with asphaltic works currently underway. This advancement indicates that, God willing, the main carriageway will be open to motorists by September. The completion of this project is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on the Ofankor-Nsawam Road section of the Accra-Kumasi Highway, a major thoroughfare that has long been plagued by heavy traffic.
The Minister further highlighted the efforts being made to ensure the road remains functional and safe upon completion. He mentioned that the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) is dispatching a dedicated towing vehicle to the site. This measure is intended to quickly attend to any vehicles that break down along the stretch, thereby mitigating potential traffic issues. The presence of this towing service aims to maintain a smooth flow of traffic and reduce the inconvenience caused by stalled vehicles.
The Ofankor-Nsawam Dualisation and Upgrading Road Project is a critical infrastructure development aimed at enhancing the transportation network in the region. The project’s completion will not only ease traffic congestion but also improve road safety and travel efficiency for motorists.
The completion of the project is eagerly anticipated, as it promises to bring much-needed relief to commuters who have long endured the challenges of navigating the heavily congested road.
In addition to reducing traffic congestion, the project is expected to boost economic activities by facilitating smoother transportation of goods and services.
