The National Chairman of Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ayensu Ntim, has temporarily stepped away from the party’s ongoing “Thank You Tour” to attend to what officials describe as pressing matters.

The tour, which began on 26 April, is meant to show appreciation to supporters after the party’s performance in the 2024 general elections. However, recent events have cast a shadow over its progress, including internal clashes and public disagreements among leading party figures.
In a statement issued on 1 May, the party’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, said Mr Ntim remains committed to the nationwide engagement and will rejoin the team soon.

The tour has been marred by incidents such as a confrontation between former presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong and Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe (Abronye), as well as reports of a student being stabbed during an event at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
These tensions have raised concerns about growing divisions within the NPP as it prepares for the 2028 electoral cycle.
Mr Agyapong, who also withdrew from the tour, cited the safety of his supporters as a key reason for his decision.
Despite the setbacks, the NPP says the tour remains a vital effort to reconnect with its grassroots and reaffirm unity.
