Nana Akufo-Addo’s “praise singers” have now become his biggest critics – Kwesi Pratt Jnr

Renowned political analyst and Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jr., has raised concerns over a shift in loyalty within the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He pointed out that many of those who were once the loudest “praise singers” of former President Nana Akufo-Addo are now among his harshest critics.

According to Pratt, these individuals defended Akufo-Addo’s decisions with unwavering support while he was in power, but now that he has left office, they are openly attacking some of those same decisions.

This, he according to him, raises questions about sincerity in political loyalty and whether their previous support was based on conviction or convenience.

His remarks come at a time when internal debates within the NPP are growing, especially as the party prepares for future elections. The shift in tone from Akufo-Addo’s former loyalists has sparked discussions about party discipline, political survival, and the realities of governance.

Pratt’s observation which he shared on his twitter (now X) handle has fueled reactions from political commentators and followers with some arguing that such shifts are a natural part of politics, while others see it as an indictment of blind party loyalty.

Do you think these internal contradictions could have significant implications for the party’s future.
