Hon. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Ghana’s Minister for Finance, has inaugurated a 13-member Board of Directors for the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBoD).
The inauguration was conducted by the Minister on behalf of H.E. the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, on Monday, May 19, 2025, in Accra.
In a brief address, the Minister revealed that the strategic focus on gold is already yielding positive results. As of May 13, 2025, the Ghana cedi had appreciated by 16.7% against the US dollar, making it the world’s best-performing currency so far this year, the Finance Minister stated.
Hon. Ato Forson stressed that this turnaround is no accident but reflects strong coordination between monetary and fiscal policy. He noted that this coordination is improving inflows from gold, cocoa, and remittances, alongside firm discipline in managing the public purse.
He further stated that the Ghana GoldBoD will be key to sustaining this progress and ensuring that the sector contributes even more meaningfully to the country’s economic transformation.
Hon. Ato Forson expressed confidence that the new board – particularly the chairman, Mr. Kojo Fynn – will discharge its duties with integrity, professionalism, and a deep sense of national responsibility.
