Measure Me by Exchange Rate Stability, Not Activity – GoldBod’s Sammy Gyamfi Declares

ACCRA, Channel 1 TV – “Until we achieve exchange rate stability and gold reserve accumulation, we’ve achieved nothing.”

That was the sharp assessment from Sammy Gyamfi, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), in a candid interview on Channel One TV’s The Point of View with Bernard Avle.

The Board’s true north is not measured by internal milestones or activities, but by how effectively it strengthens the cedi and supports the Central Bank’s gold holdings

“And so at the end of the day, that is what I want to be measured by and that is what the president will measure me by,”

he stressed, highlighting the weight of national expectation on his leadership.

Although GoldBod is still in its implementation phase, Gyamfi noted that early progress has been promising, thanks in part to strategic partnerships across the gold trading sector.

We’re still learning by the day, but so far I believe we’re on track, The cooperation we’ve had from stakeholders and industry players has been very helpful.

Touching on long-term impact, Gyamfi expressed confidence that the public will soon begin to see the results of their work.

“I have no doubt in my mind that very soon we’ll begin to see the results. And when the results start coming, we’ll know whether we’re fit for the job or not.”

In a related development, the Ghana Gold Board has officially launched the licensing of service providers in the trading sector, effective Wednesday, April 23.
