Nana Nyarko Aboraa Sika III, Queen Mother of Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region, joined thousands in mourning the late Bretuo Piesie Daasebre Dr. Osei Bonsu II, the Asante Mamponghene. The solemn tribute according to EZRA TV/FM on facebook,unfolded during the Dɔte Yie rites in Asante Mampong on Monday, June 9, 2025, where communities and dignitaries gathered to honor his legacy.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, born Saint Oswald Gyimah-Kessie on December 31, 1939, served faithfully as Mamponghene. He was enstooled on August 25, 1996, and passed away in April 2025 at the age of 85 following a brief illness. His final funeral rites held in early June included deeply rooted Asante traditions led by the Bretuo family and key royal figures.
According to EZRA TV/FM, Queen Mother Nana Nyarko Aboraa Sika III, stood dignified yet visibly grief stricken during the ceremonies. Her presence deeply symbolized solidarity, respect, and the enduring bond among Ashanti royal houses.
According to Ezra media, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II is remembered for bringing stability and advancement to the traditional governance of Mampong.
Ezra media remarks that his death exemplifies the end of a significant era in Ashanti tradition, as communities honor a leader who bridged academia and customary authority.
