Mahama Will Sign the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill – Ato Forson Assures

Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has announced the passage of the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025, by Parliament.

In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the finance Minister assured Ghanaians that President John Dramani Mahama will sign the bill into law.

During proceedings on Wednesday, 26th March 2025, Motion Number 68 was adopted by a majority in Parliament. The bill was read for the tenth time and accordingly passed.

The Income Tax (Amendment) Act, 2025, amends the Income Tax Act, 2015 (Act 896) to remove withholding tax on winnings from lotteries, as well as on the purchase of unprocessed goods. The bill also provides for related tax adjustments aimed at improving compliance and easing tax burdens in specific sectors.
