President John Dramani Mahama has paid a courtesy visit to former President John Agyekum Kufuor to extend seasonal greetings to him and his family.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Sunday, President Mahama said the visit was to convey best wishes of the season to the former president and his household. The visit took place at President Kufuor’s residence.

The gesture has attracted widespread public attention, with many social media users describing it as an act of statesmanship and a reflection of respect for Ghana’s democratic history. Commentators highlighted the significance of a sitting president visiting a former head of state outside the context of official ceremonies or national crises.
Several responses under the post praised the visit as a symbol of unity, maturity, and continuity in leadership, noting its potential to strengthen Ghana’s democratic culture. Others described it as a reminder that national cohesion should rise above partisan considerations.
President Kufuor served as Ghana’s president from 2001 to 2009 and remains an influential statesman in the country. The visit by President Mahama has been widely interpreted as a goodwill gesture during the festive season and an affirmation of mutual respect among Ghana’s former and current leaders.
